PHILOSOPHIE

Sophie’s Yoga Philosophy

Respect every body:

I believe that yoga should be inclusive so that everyone, regardless of their age, body type, physical ability, or cultural background, can experience its profound benefits. Every body and their dog is welcome in my classes 🙂

Cultivate compassion:

Yoga isn’t just about physical postures, it’s about cultivating compassion towards yourself and others. This isn’t always an easy task, but that’s why we call it yoga practice.

Gift yourself the present:

Personally, I find yoga is one of the best ways to still my beating mind – which, like everyone’s, tends to dwell on the past or worry about the future. Yoga’s often described as ‘the science of now’ and places emphasis on the importance of the precious present moment, which we too often avoid!

“Sophie’s classes are playful and joyful from start to finish, with some deep learning built in. She holds space brilliantly, helping us to see the world in a new way and bringing so much fun and connection to each other. She’s really skillful in teaching us so much without us even realising!”

What is DOGA?

Get a double boost of serotonin by doing yoga with dogs! I guide hour-long group Vinyasa Flow yoga classes that build strength and flexibility, paying particular attention to poses that are inspired by dogs’ movements.

All well-behaved, sociable dogs are welcome to join. If you don’t have your own pooch but enjoy canine company, then this is a great opportunity to get your furry fix.

Energetic play offers physical and mental benefits for both humans and dogs – it’s a win win. Drop me a line if you want to organise a session, I promise you’ll have a ball!

Why are dogs such natural yogis?

  • They instinctively stretch, self-soothe and shake their bodies to reset.
  • They’re intently aware of their surroundings and engage all of their senses to assess the lay of the land.
  • They immerse themselves in the present moment, mastering the joyful experience of being alive.
